Absolutely incredible sound quality! The bass and drums really stand out here. I'd definitely suggest giving it a listen!
Shocked this one's been passed over. Picked it up second-hand, but it's in top condition. The vinyl's practically silent. A perfectly flat pressing. Sound quality's incredible. Superbly recorded. Definitely an audiophile's pick. Shelly Man's a favorite of mine, and the vibraphone in the band's my jam.
The pressing on side B isn't as good as side 1. I tested two records from the same label and year, but side 2 is equally noisy on both.
This jazz album is an absolute hidden gem.. if you're not familiar with it, you're in for a real surprise. It's one of the greatest jazz records you've probably never listened to, and it'll definitely introduce you to the incredible Shelly Manne. The music takes you on a journey with turns that are simply breathtaking, making it a must-listen for any jazz enthusiast from that era, especially if you're a fan of xylophone. I stumbled upon this record in a jazz collection and decided to give it a play because I recognized Manne's name and wanted to check out his sound. I was completely captivated until halfway through side 2, where I hit a skip. After realizing I couldn't fix it, I immediately ordered another copy the same day. It's just that amazing.
