Product description

"1930s Violin Concertos, Vol. 2" is a captivating exploration of two iconic violin concertos from the 1930s, performed by the renowned violinist Gil Shaham. Released in 2016 under the Canary Classics label, this album showcases Shaham's virtuosic skill and deep musical insight, accompanied by the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Stéphane Denève.

The album features two monumental works: Sergei Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2 in G Minor, Op. 63, and Béla Bartók's Violin Concerto No. 2, Sz. 112. Each concerto is presented in its entirety, offering a comprehensive journey through these complex and expressive compositions. Prokofiev's concerto, with its lyrical melodies and rhythmic vitality, contrasts beautifully with Bartók's more angular and harmonically adventurous work. Both pieces are staples of the violin repertoire, and Shaham's interpretations are both technically brilliant and deeply nuanced.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 2 minutes, this album is a testament to Shaham's ability to breathe new life into these classic works. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "1930s Violin Concertos, Vol. 2" offers a rich and rewarding listening experience. The album is a must for anyone interested in the violin concerto genre and the works of Prokofiev and Bartók.
